The Certified Flight Instructor Instrument program is intended for those who want to have the ability to give instruction towards instrument ratings. Being a flight instructor is one most common ways of building experience and hours towards being eligible for other commercial jobs. And being an instrument instructor ensures your value towards getting that first instructor job. As a CFII you will be responsible for teaching new students everything there is to know about instrument flight both in the classroom and the cockpit.
Part 91 requirements:
To be eligible for a certified flight instructor instrument rotorcraft pilot certificate, you must:
1. Be at least 18 years of age.
2. Be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
3. Hold at least a commercial instrument pilot certificate.
4. Pass the knowledge test.
5. Pass the practical test.
6. Pass the fundamentals of instruction test.
The minimum requirements for the Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Helicopter certificate:
Have logged at least--
A. Dual: No specific min or max amount of time required, just so the applicant has received the appropriate training of § 61.187.
B. PIC: 15 hours as PIC in the category and class of aircraft for the flight instructor rating sought.
Part 141 requirements:
Total Dual = 15 hours on the Instrument Flight Instructor areas of operation in a helicopter
